Appearing on the Grit ‘n’ Grace podcast

Listen to Episode 308: How to Trust Your Creative Instincts as a Highly Sensitive Person.

It was my pleasure and honor to join Cheri Gregory for Episode 308 of the Grit ‘n’ Grace podcast! Our conversation includes bits about why my writing process works for me, how being a highly sensitive person influences what I read and write, the joy and peace we can experience when we trust God with our creative efforts, and more.

In this episode, we use terms worth clarifying. When I say “Christian,” I’m not referring to an association with any church or political party, but to a person who is studying Jesus of the Bible and trying to live the way He did—with kindness, compassion, and gentleness.

“Highly sensitive person” refers to the 20% of the population who tends to be highly empathetic, experiences life in nuances and layers, is able to easily zoom in and out to see both the big picture and small details, looks at a situation from multiple perspectives at once, and more!

Writing terms Cheri and I discuss include “plotter” and “pantser,” shorthand for writers who plot everything out ahead and those who write “by the seat of their pants.”
