For indie-published authors like me, every online book review is especially valuable.
Reviews lend credence to an author and her novels. Help readers decide whether to gamble on a new-to-them book. Give peeks at what the story might really be about, based on how real people responded to it.
What makes a book review helpful to other readers?
- Rather than analyzing the writing, share your personal response to the story.
- Mention what stood out to you: a character, theme, twist, or moment.
- Share how the book made you feel. Did you laugh, cry, stay up too late reading?
- Compare it to other books or authors you love.
- Short and sweet (“I loved this book!”) is fine!
